Entourage users with Exchange accounts must upgrade to Entourage 2008,Web Services Edition to access their Exchange mail, contacts, andcalendar. This update, available from IUware, requires both Mac OS X10.4.9 or later and Office 2008 SP2 or later.

Note: The Web Services update is only useful forthose who use Entourage to access an Outlook/Exchange emailaccount. Those using Cyrus, Imail, or Umail do not need this update.

Upgrading to Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition

To use the Web Services Edition of Entourage 2008, you must firstupdate your current version of Office 2008.

  1. Open any Office 2008 application. From the Help menu, select Updates and follow the instructions.

    Note: After the updater starts, you will need to quit any running Office applications, including Messenger.

  2. Repeat step 1 to check for any additional updates. Do this until the updater reports that there are no more updates.
  3. Download Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition from IUware, and install it.
  4. Repeat step 1 once more to be sure your version of Office 2008 has been fully updated.

Setting up Entourage 2008

When you start Entourage after the upgrade, you will have the optionof creating a new setup, importing from another version of Entourage,or importing from another mail application. Note that you might notsee this option if you have previously opened Entourage.

Creating a new setup

Selecting this option will create a new Entourage configuration foryour Exchange account without importing any data. Mail from otheraccounts or mail saved to the On My Computer folder inEntourage will not be imported with this option. To continue creatinga new setup:

  1. In the Entourage Setup Assistant, select Start using Entourage without importing anything, and click the right arrow to continue.
  2. Enter your email address and check My account is on an Exchange server, and then click the right arrow.

    Note: If you see a dialog box asking you to select or create a Kerberos ID, click Cancel, and follow the steps below to manually configure your account. Kerberos cannot be used to connect to the IU Exchange system.

  3. In the dialog box asking for Domain, Account ID and Password, enter the following:
    • Domain: ads.iu.edu
    • Account ID: Your Network ID username
    • Password: Your Network ID passphrase

    You may also want to check the box to have your passphrase saved in the Mac OS X Keychain.

  4. The next screen should display the following message:
    The settings for mail account 'username@campus.edu' were successfullydetermined.

    Click the right arrow to continue.

  5. The next screen will show your settings. Confirm that your username and email address are correct, and change any other information (e.g., your name) as needed. The other information should be set automatically; if not, set it as follows:
    • Your name: Your real name
    • E-mail address: Your email address, in the format username@campus.edu
    • Account ID: Your Network ID username
    • Domain: ads.iu.edu
    • Exchange Server: https://www.exchange.iu.edu
    • LDAP server: One of the following servers should be listed:
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC01.ads.iu.edu
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC02.ads.iu.edu
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC03.ads.iu.edu
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC04.ads.iu.edu
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC05.ads.iu.edu
      • IU-MSSG-ADSDC06.ads.iu.edu

    Click the right arrow to continue.

  6. Click Verify My Settings.
  7. At the 'Setup Complete' screen, give your account any name you wish, and then click Finished.

    Entourage will connect to your Exchange account and begin downloading your email and syncing your calendar and contact information from Exchange. If you have a large amount of mail, it may take as long as an hour to fully sync this information.

Importing from another version of Entourage

Note: UITS does not recommend importing fromEntourage 2004. If you were using Entourage 2004, you should insteadfollow the instructions for a new setup.

  1. In the Entourage Setup Assistant, select Import from a previous version of Entourage, and click the right arrow to continue.
  2. Select Import from Entourage 2008; click the right arrow.
  3. For 'Import Items', you can select all or only a few of the options. At a minimum, you should select Accounts; Entourage will automatically synchronize messages, contacts, and calendar appointments from your IU Exchange account. If you have other email accounts to import, select options for importing data from those accounts. Click the right arrow.
  4. For 'Select Identity', you will likely need to select your Main Identity or the one with the most recent date. Click the right arrow.
  5. If you see a screen warning you that Entourage does not sync with all versions of Exchange Server, click OK. Entourage does sync with the IU Exchange server when Entourage is properly configured.
  6. Entourage will notify you that your import is complete. From the Entourage menu, select Account Settings... Verify your name, username, and email address, and make sure your 'Domain:' is ads.iu.edu. Check Use my account information if necessary (Kerberos is not an option for IU Exchange accounts).
  7. Verify the settings of the imported account using the instructionsin Configuring your Entourage 2008 accountmanually.

Configuring your Entourage 2008 account manually

  1. After upgrading to Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition, open Entourage. From the Entourage menu, select Account Settings...
  2. In the Accounts window, select New. For the account type, select Exchange. If you see the Account Setup Assistant window, click Configure Account Manually.
  3. You should now see the Edit Account window, with Account Settings selected. Check Use my account information if necessary (Kerberos is not an option for IU Exchange accounts), and enter your information as follows:
    • Account name: Can be anything you like (e.g., IU Exchange)
    • Your name: Your real name
    • E-mail address: username@campus.edu
    • Account ID: Your Network ID username
    • Domain: ads.iu.edu
    • Password: Your Network ID passphrase (If you want, check Save password in my Mac OS keychain.)

  4. Select the Advanced tab, and enter the following information. (Nothing should be set in the 'Directory Settings' section.)
    • Exchange Server: https://www.exchange.iu.edu/ews/exchange.asmx

      Check This server requires a secure connection (SSL).

      The program calls for 2GB of RAM as well as 9GB of disk room.
